Skip to main content Macbeth Folger Edition. Macbeth Folger Shakespeare Library. In Stock. Shakespeare is undoubtedly a master with language, and Folger Library does another excellent job of explaining the nuances of Macbeth to the normal person. Macbeth is an intense play, and Folger's edition captures all of the darkness and mysterious violence that shrouds the title character and his wife.

I had no trouble at all understanding what Shakespeare meant through the page by page annotations. There's also a well-written intro on Shakespeare's life and his language in Macbeth, which is indispensible for a thorough understanding of the context surrounding the play.

The concluding section, "A Modern Perspective," also clarifies a lot of the internal conflict within the play as well as presents a great analysis of the opposing forces and people. A minor irritant, though, is that the page number in this edition is on the inside of the page, near the binding. It's a little bit more difficult Add to cart. Only 12 left in stock - order soon. Since I am an English teacher, and I teach Macbeth every year, I own or have seen just about every movie version of Macbeth that's available.

The special effects and interpretation of this version is fantastic for students being introduced to Shakespeare's plays for the first time. Hamlet Folger Library Shakespeare. I'm a high school English teacher, and the Folger is the only edition I recommend to my students I teach in a private school where they have to purchase their own copies. The notes on the opposite page are VERY helpful--you can read footnotes without flipping to the back of the book or squinting to read them at the bottom of the text.

Perhaps most helpful of all is the little scene synopsis before each scene. It really helps them get what's about to happen so they're not lost Great price, too. There's a problem loading this menu right now.
